AURA is a refugee sponsorship agreement holder organization (SAH). We have 2 full time staff members and a small office in downtown Toronto. We work with volunteer sponsor groups who help welcome refugees to Canada, formally supporting them for one year from the date they arrive. At AURA, we strive to find opportunities for committed volunteers whose contributions could benefit the refugees, sponsors, and sponsored newcomers we serve, and/or our office's operations.

All volunteers working with AURA will be required to submit a copy of a valid Police Check (obtained within the last year), agree to and sign a privacy agreement, and meet with AURA staff before beginning a volunteer position. For work involving contact with refugee newcomers, we may also ask for a reference.

Because of our limited staff, we are only able to accommodate volunteers who are self-motivated and able to work independently. Depending on the nature of the volunteer position, we may also require a minimum time commitment.
